| Mass Communication | Messages to the general public received from the media |

| Partisan Politics | Extreme loyalty to one party; inability to compromise |
| Cultural Divide | Real barriers to compromise and acceptance caused by cultural beliefs |
| Obama Care | A nickname for the Affordable Care Act created by the media. |
| The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act | This bill provided stimulus funds to assist during the recession. |
| The Affordable Care Act | This bill is the most significant regulatory overhaul of the country's healthcare system since the passage of Medicare and Medicaid. |
