Treaty of Versailles The peace agreement between the Central Powers and the Allies that ended World War I. The treaty punished Germany severely for starting the war
Great Depression Economic crisis that began with the stock market crash in the United States in 1929 and continued throughout the 1930s
Aggression When a country uses hostile actions against other countries
Appeasement When a country lets another country have its way in order to avoid a conflict. Appeasement can encourage a conflict to grow bigger.
Tripartite Pact A pact between Germany
Annexation When a larger
Watershed Event When something happens that changes things so they can never go back to the way they were
Resentment When a person or people are bitter over being treated unfairly
Pact A formal agreement
Treaty A formal agreement between two or more countries
Militarism When one country builds its military for the purpose of intimidating others
Imperialism The idea that one country can control another through diplomacy to gain power and authority
Nationalism The belief that your country or culture is better than other countries or cultures
Turning Point A point at which an important change happens
