TermDefinition
Articles Of Confederation The first constitution of the United States.
Unicameral Refers to a legislature that has one house.
Treaty of Paris The Treaty of Paris of 1783 formally ended the American Revolutionary War.
Constitutional Convention The convention in Philadelphia (1787) of representatives from each of the former Colonies, except Rhode Island, at which the Constitution of the United States was framed.
Constitution The fundamental plan of operation for a government.
Treaty A formal agreement between two or more nations.
Confederation A loose organization of the states with a weak central government and powerful state government.
Bounty Grant A land bounty is a grant of land from a government as a reward to repay citizens for the risks and hardships they endured in the service of their country, usually in a military related capacity.
Loyalist One who remained loyal to Great Britain and King George.
Patriots Those colonist who wanted independence from Great Britain.
Native American A person born in the United States.
Tax A sum of money demanded by a government for its support or for specific facilities or services, levied upon incomes, property, sales, etc.
Creek Chiefly Atlantic States and British. a recess or inlet in the shore of the sea.
Cede To surrender, especially land or territory.
Executive Branch The branch of government charged with the execution and enforcement of laws and policies and the administration of public affairs; the executive.
Debt Something that is owed or that one is bound to pay to or perform for another.
Trade The act or process of buying, selling, or exchanging commodities, at either wholesale or retail, within a country or between countries.
Property That which a person owns.
