QuestionAnswer
How does a civil case work? A plaintiff claims a loss. The defendednt argues there is no responsibility on their part.
What is an injunction? a court order to halt a person or group to stop action.
How does a civil case start? a compplaint made by a lawer, court sends a summon to the defendentwho answers the pleading.
What is discoveery? aech side gathers facts before trial which is heard most likely by a judge but sometimes a jury.
What do criminal cases do? punishment for an offence against person or society.
What is arraignment? defendent if charged must enter a plea.
What is no contest? does not admit guilt and will not fight the prosecution's case.
what is the penil code? sets punishment for each crime.
What is plea bargaining? agrees to plead guilt but to a lesser charge.
What is a testimony? the whole truth.
What is cross examining? the witness must answer to both prosecution and defence.
What happens if the jury can't decide? the prosecution must drop charges or get retrial
