| Muckraker | Muckrakers were writers who dug up dirt, or, "muck," about dangerous working conditions. |
| Sufferage | The fight for gaining the womens right to vote. |
| Seneca Falls Convention | A convention were Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Lucretia Mott planned the Seneca Falls Convention in New York, were they wrote a document for the demand of an end to laws that discriminated against women. |
| Prohibition | Laws that would ban the production and sale of alcohol. |
| Patronage | State leaders giving government jobs to people who had done favors to them or their political party. |
| Initiative | If enough voters sign a petition, or request, they can introduce a bill and force legislaters to vote on an issue. |
| Referendum | Allows citizens to vote directly on laws. |
| Recall | Right to remove an elected offical from office. |
| 19 Amendment | Gave women the full right to vote. |
