How did the position of the Federalists difer from that of the anti-Federalists? The federalists favored the constitution and the Anti-Federalists are opposed to the Constitution
Why did the Federalists win approval of the Constitution? They had several advantages 1) thought the Articles of Confederation had serious flaws 2) united around Constitution 3) well-organized group 4) Had George Washingtons support
What were the arguments for and against a Bill of Rights? Federalists saw no need for amendments because they were building a governmanet of, for and by the people, and the people was the same as the government
Why was the Bill of Rights added to the Constitution? It was 10 amendments added to protect citizens rights
Why were special coneventions, and not legislatures, called upon to ratify the Constitution? The Framers of the Constitution bypassed the state legislatures because they feared the legislatures would never approve of a document that reduced their powers
How were the Federalists ale to win ratification of the Constitution? Because of their several advantages
How did James Madison address fears that any faction might be able to control the government? he wrote that because the US is so large that a single faction could not control the whole government.
Why did the Anti-Federalists oppose the Constitution? Americans thought that it gave threats to over power state government and the rights to individuals
Why did many Americans what a Bill of Rights? They beilved the Bill of Rights was needed to restrain the federal government.
