continent any one of the earth's seven large land masses (North America, South America, Europe, Asia, Africa, Australia , Antarctica
map a drawing of all or part of the earth
cartography the making and study of maps
compass an instrument that shows which direction we are facing or traveling
thematic map shows the distribution of a particular feature such as population, rainfall, or a natural resource
mobility map are created to help people find their way from one place to another
inventory map are maps that show the precise location of the specific feature, such as a map showing every building in a community
borders a line separating two political or geographical areas such as countries
atlases a book of maps and charts
chart an outline map that shows specific characteristics of an area such as climate and or magnetic changes, maps used by navigators
symbol a drawing, a letter or a figure that represents a feature or an idea
map legend lists and explains the symbols and colors used in a map
scale shows the relationship between distances on the map and the corresponding distances on the earth's surface
