Arms Race A contest between nations to build bigger and more powerful weapons.
Timeline A line that shows events in the order in which they happen.
Veteran Someone who has served in the military.
Baby Boom The increase in the number of babies born after World War II.
Budget A plan for saving and spending income.
Civil Rights The rights that countries guarantee their citizens.
Desegregation Ending the separation of people by racial or ethnic group.
Nonviolent Protest A way of bringing change without using violence.
Space Race A competition between the United States and the Soviet Union to send people into outer space.
Demonstration A gathering of people who want to express their opinion to the public and the government.
Cease-Fire An agrement to stop all fighting.
