Hessians were paid soldiers that came from German- speaking sates in the Holy Roman Empire
minutemen a member of a class of American militiamen who volunteered to be ready in a minute's notice (period preceding and during the American Revolution)
militia a military force raised from the colonists to supplement / help a regular army in an emergency
bayonete a blade that may be fixed to the muzzle of a rifled used to stab an opponent in hand-to-hand combat
Patriots Colonists that supported the revolution and rejected British rule during the revolutionary war
Loyalists colonists that remained loyal to the King and England
merchant a person or company involved in wholesale trade, especially dealing with foreign countries
debts something, typically money, that is owed
tyranny cruel or oppressive government or rule
treason the crime of betraying your country, especially by attempting to kill or overthrow the government
neutralist a person that decided not to help or support the Loyalists or the Patriots
