What vote is necessary to win the election? The electoral vote.
What did the Compromise of 1877 do? Haynes was given the election In return : Federal troops left Louisiana and South Carolina officially ending the Reconstruction of America. No officers No laws enforced. Haynes must appoint Southerners to cabinet/
What was the purpose of the 13,14,and 15th amendment? To help African Americans civil rights. In the ERA of reconstruction. 13th - Banned slavery 14th- Citizenship 15th- Rights to vote
Why were people opposed to Lincoln's reconstruction plan? It was too leinent[easy]. Northerners wanted Southerners to be harshly punished for succeeding and starting the Civil war.
How did African Americans have their rights taken away after the civil war? Black codes, Supreme court decisions, and Jim crow.
Define: Carpet bagger (C.B) Scalawag. Scalawag- because they were "traitors" Who C.B- Northerners who moved south to buy land, they would fix the buildings and sell it for a higher price.
What were the results of reconstruction? 13,14,15 Amendments were created, educations, and jobs. After reconstruction things went back to the way it was (racism, segragation, and violence)
What was a major issue of the Grant ERA [Administration]? He let his friends have federal jobs[in his cabinet]. His era involved Curruption by his friends.
What is the Whiskey act? People who bribed their tax officials to not look into their tax debts by giving them whiskey.
