We Are Family: Europe

TermDefinition
Ethnicity a group that shares common cultural traits, such as religion, language, etc
Nationalism an extreme devotion to a country characterized by a lack of questioning of state authority
Assimilation adopting new cultural practices, generally from a dominate culture group
Supranational Organization a collection of multiple states that make up a larger group that goes beyond national boundaries
Monumental Architecture large man-made structures generally created for the public to remember an event or individual
Alliances a union between two or more nations for mutual benefit usually during time of war
European Union an international organization of European countries formed after World War II to reduce trade barriers and increase cooperation among its members
Genocide the deliberate killing of a large group of people, especially those of a particular ethnic group or nation
Multiculturalism the co-existence of diverse cultures, where culture includes racial, religious, or cultural groups
Cultural Diffusion the spreading of cultures or activities from one group to another
Diversity the state of having people who are different races or who have different cultures in a group
Iron Curtain an imaginary, political boundary that divided Western and Eastern Europe after WW II
Transportation Corridor an area of land that includes lines of transportation, like railroads, highways and canals
Industrialized Country a country characterized by industry on an extensive scale
Migration a movement to another place, such as a large group of people
