How many colonies were there? 13
Why were the colonies taxed? Becuase Britian had spent a lot of money on the 7 years war and needed to tax the colonies to get that more money
Why didn't Britain tax Quebec? Becuase it had just been won by the British and the people were already on the edge. If they started getting taxed that could lead to revolution , and Britain needed to secure their control.
Why were the colonies upset? Because they were getting their asses taxed off but they didn't have any representation or chance to speak for themselves in English Parliament.
What did the 13 colonies (originally) want? Representation in the English Parliament
What was the book written by Thomas Paine? Common sense
Who wrote Common Sense? Thomas Paine
What was Common Sense about? The book advocated for democracy and argued that monarchies are inherently flawed. Paine believed that there may be good monarchs, but you can't guarantee that any new King wan't be a horrible leader and not qualified.
What did Common Sense do for the development of revolution? It inspired the 13 Colonies to fight for their independence rather than representation

Amendment 4 No unreasonable searches of priivite property and seziers of belongings, you need a warent
Amendment 5 Government needs to respect your legal rights, you are entitled to due process
When is there and exeption for Amendment 5 nuring a national crisis
Amendment 6 in all crimanal procedures the accused has the right to a quick and public trial, an impartial jury, and a lawyer
Amendment 7 Regardless of the amount of money involved, the process and the typical courtroom procesures will remain; once a verdict has been reached, it cannot be undone ex. you wonldn't be able to arrest OJ now because the trial is over
Amendment 8 No cruel or unusual punishments or bails; you can't charge one person $20 for stealing and another a life sentance
Amendment 9 Any rights not explicitly stated still exist
Amendment 10 any powers not given to the federal government are left to the states or individuals
