propaganda | a form of communication aimed towards influencing the attitude of a population toward some cause or position |
revolution | a great and often violent change |
Berlin Wall | Wall in Germany that separated East and West Berlin from 1961-1989 |
alliance | when close associations of nations or groups are formed |
armistice | a temporary halt in fighting; a truce |
treaty | a formal agreement between two or more groups in relation to peace, economics, and/or international issues |
reparations | when defeated power (s) in a war must make payments of money, goods, and services to the winning power(s) |
anti-semistism | negative feelings towards Jews |
Nazism | belief in the party of Adolf Hitler; the National Socialist Worker's Party |
Holocaust | the time period in which Hitler murdered millions of Jewish people |
reunification | bringing back together the two parts of Germany under one government |
superpowers | following World War II, the United States and Soviet Union were considered the two most powerful countries in the world. The United States stood for democracy and Soviet Union stood for communism |
