carpetbagger Label given to opportunists coming to make money off of the South's misfortune.
segregation The separation of races.
integration Combining the previously segregated schools.
sharecropping Farming system where landowners dictate crops and provide "sharecropper" with a home and tools, in exchange for a share of the crops.
share-tenancy Similar to sharecropping, except the farmer dictates his own crop and uses his own tools before sharing with the landowner.
Ku Klux Klan Southern white group meant to terrorize African Americans.
Enforcement Acts Acts that made it a crime to interfere with a citizen's right to vote.
tenant farming Farming system where farmers paid rent to landowner and was free to choose where to live and what to farm.
