Compass Rose a circular direction marker on a map.
Cardinal Directions main directions;North,South,West,East
Intermediate Directions the in between directions; NW,NE,SW,SE
Map Key part of a map that explains what the symbols on the map stand for
Map Scale part of a map that compares a distance on the map to a distance in the real world
Map Title words on a map that tells a subject of a map
Inset Map a smaller map inside a larger map
physical map primary purpose is to show land forms like mountains, deserts and plains
political map shows boundaries of countries and states ; locations of major cities and important bodies of water
historical map a map that gives information about a place as it was in the past
grid system an arrangement of lines that divides something into squares such as a map
