TermDefinition
compass rose a circular direction marker on a map.
cardinal directions main directions; north,south,east,west.
intermediate directions the 'inbetween' directions /NW,NE,SW,SE.
map key part of a map that explains what the symbols n the map stand for.
map scale part of a map compares a distance on the map to a distance in the real world.
map title words on a map that tell the subject of a map
inset map a smaller map that set inside of a larger map
physical map primary purpose is to show land forms like mountains,deserts and plains
political map shows boundaries of countries and states ; locations of major
historical map a map that gives information about a place as it was in the past
grid map an arrangement of lines that divides something into squares such as a map
