Vocab.

TermDefinition
Compass Rose- A circular direction on a map.
Cardinal Directions- Main directions North,South,East ,West.
Intermediate Directions- The "in between"directions;Northwest,Northeast,Southwest,Southwest.
Map Key- part of the map that explains what symbol on the map stands for.
Map Scale- Part of a map that compare the distance on a map to a distance in real life.
Map Title- Words on a map that will tell the subject of the map.
Inset Map- A smaller map inside of a bigger map.
Physical Map- Primary purpose is to show land forms,mountains,deserts,plains.
Political Map- Shows boundaries of countries & states;locations of major cities & important bodies of water.
Historical Map- Info about a place as it was in the past.
Grid Map An arrangement of lines that divide something into squares such as a map.
