Important Imperial Japan Vocabulary

Treaty of Ganagawa treaty signed by Japanese opening trade ports; begins Imperial Japan
trade the exchange of goods between people/groups/countries; Imperial Japan started when the Japanese opened up 'trade' to other countries
industrialization the development of industries in countries in large amounts; Imperial Japan is when industrialization became prominent in Japan. Production of many goods skyrocketed.
emperor ruler of country; Emperor's came to power in Imperial Japan.
expedition journey or voyage taken by specific people for a specific purpose; The Perry expeditions forced Japan to open up trade ports, this marking the beginning of Imperial Japan.
Constitutional Government a government with the existence of a constitution; As Japan went on expeditions, they took the idea of the constitution from the United States, this making Japan's government a Constitutional Government.
change make or become different; This is a real turning point of change for Japan.
Meiji Emperor of Japan in the 19th century; Impactful emperor in Imperial Japan.
West the western part of the world; Impacted the start of Imperial Japan. Japan did a lot of cultural borrowing from this region.
armies a countries group of defense; Before Imperial Japan, the protection they had were Samurai's. Imperial Japan led them to get an army.
