Allele A variation of a gene
Dominant the one of a pair of alternative alleles that masks the effect of recessive when both are present in the same cell represented as Capital letters
Recessive that one of a pair of alternative alleles whose effect is masked by the activity of the dominant allele when both are present in the same cell represented by lowercase letters
Homozygous When a pair of alleles are the same from one another.
Heterozygous If a pair of alleles are different from each other.
Genotype the set of genes in our DNA which is responsible for a particular trait.
Phenotype The physical appearance of an organism as distinguished from its genetic makeup.
Purebred Is defined as an animal or human which is the result of unmixed breeding.
Hybrid a hybrid is the offspring produced by breeding two different animals.
Punnet Square A chart with rows of alleles to find all the possible combinations of genotypes .
