| Term | Definition |

| Prairie | a dry, mostly flat grassland with few trees. |
| Tributary | a river or stream that flows into another river |
| Levee | a high river bank that stops the river from overflowing |
| Lock | a part of a water way that is closed off by gates |
| Supply | how much of a product producers will make at different prices |
| Demand | how much of a product consumers will buy at different prices |
| Homestead | a piece of land given to someone to settle and farm |
| Reservation | land set aside by the government for American Indians |
| Assembly Line | a way of making products in which each worker does one small part of the job as a product moves along the line |
| Elevated Train | a railway that runs above the ground on raised stacks |
| Population Density | a measure of how many people live in an area |
| Grain Elevator | a building used to store wheat or other grains |
