Environment Air, water, and land in which people and animals live.
Create To make something exist.
Issue Problem or subject that people discuss.
Interpret To explain the meaning of something.
Decline Gradual decrease in the quality or importance or something.
Monitor To carefully watch something.
Muhammad A religion based on teachings of the prophet.
Oasis Is a fertile place in the desert where a spring or well provides a water supply.
Nomadic When people move from place to place, with no fixed home.
Sedentary It means settled.
Khadija She was a merchant and the wife of Muhammad.
Qur'an The Muslim holy book.
Mosque A Muslim house of worship.
Alms Are goods or money given to the poor or needy.
Fasting Means not eating or drinking for a period of time.
Pilgrimage Is a journey to a sacred place or shrine.
Abu Bakr A old friend of the prophet.
Caliph Or successor.
Umar ibn al-Khattab A caliph who took Islam to nearby lands, His armies attacked Mesopotamia, Palestine, and Syria.
Jihad Or "Holy struggle."
Khalid ibn al-Walid A Arab general.
Sunnis Are the majority Islamic sect.
Shiites Form the largest minority Islamic sect.
