branding a mark that is burned into the skin of an animal (such as a cow) to show who owns the animal

railhead a town located along a railroad where brokers bought cattle to ship east on railroad cars
network set of routes and the set of places that they connect
guage the distance between the rails of a railroad
rural relating to farm areas and life in the country
roundup the activity of gathering livestock together so that they can be counted or branded or sold
