Revolutions in Europe and Latin America

Congress of Vienna an important meeting in 1814 and 1815 in which leaders restructured Europe
Foreign Minister a person who handles one country's dealings with other nations
Confederation a union, or group, of states and nations
Nationality a group of people who share the same language, culture and history
Peninsular a person who came to South America from Spain and held an important office in the colonial government
Creole a wealthy landowner who had been born in a Spanish colony in the Americas but whose ancestors came from Spain
Conservative a person who likes the old political order and is against revolution or change
Liberal a person who wants change, a person who wants to limit the absolute power of kings and nobles and give power to the middle class
Ordinance a law set forth by someone in government
Socialist a person who wants to end private ownership of land and factories
Utopia a type of society in which everyone works peacefully together for the good of all
Proletariat the working class, according to Marx
