Revolutions in Europe and Latin America
| Term | Definition |

| Congress of Vienna | an important meeting in 1814 and 1815 in which leaders restructured Europe |
| Foreign Minister | a person who handles one country's dealings with other nations |
| Confederation | a union, or group, of states and nations |
| Nationality | a group of people who share the same language, culture and history |
| Peninsular | a person who came to South America from Spain and held an important office in the colonial government |
| Creole | a wealthy landowner who had been born in a Spanish colony in the Americas but whose ancestors came from Spain |
| Conservative | a person who likes the old political order and is against revolution or change |
| Liberal | a person who wants change, a person who wants to limit the absolute power of kings and nobles and give power to the middle class |
| Ordinance | a law set forth by someone in government |
| Socialist | a person who wants to end private ownership of land and factories |
| Utopia | a type of society in which everyone works peacefully together for the good of all |
| Proletariat | the working class, according to Marx |
