| radical | one who wants to change things all at once |
| Jacobin | a radical leader during the French Revolution |
| Reign of Terror | the one- year period in French history when radical leaders put many people to death |
| guillotine | a machine used to execute people by chopping off their heads |
| legislature | the lawmaking body of government |
| executive | the branch of government that enforces laws |
| tactic | a plan that helps someone win a game or battle |
| neutral | not choosing either side in a war |
| exile | to send someone away from his or her own country |
| Code of Napoleon | a code of law Napoleon passed that made all men equal in France |
