QuestionAnswer
discomfiture defeat of plans or hopes; frustration. The British had made the colonies feel discomfiture with all of the Acts.
fagot bundle of sticks or twigs tied together for fuel. The colonist would burn fagots to keep them warm in the winter.
imperturbable not easily excited or disturbed; calm. My brother Chris is very imperturbable when it comes to movies.
obdurate stubborn or unyielding; hardened in feelings or heart. Before Johnny hurt his hand in the accident he was obdurate.
pullet a young hen. A pullet is taught by his mother how to grow up and become self -sufficient.
persevere continue steadily in doing something hard; stick to a purpose. The sons of Liberty persevere to get the taxes repealed.
paroxysm a sudden outburst of emotion or activity. The sons of liberty's paroxysm was the Boston Tea Party.
sedition incitement to disconnect or rebellion, usually against a government. The colonies sedition was because of the British acts and taxes on tea and goods.
commandeer seize private property for military or public use. The British troops left in the colonies used the Quartering Act to commandeer the colonists houses.
genealogy descent of a person or family from an ancestor; pedigree; lineage. Johnny's genealogy is the Lye family.
pique a feeling of anger at being slighted; wounded pride. The colonist felt pique because the British tried to tell them how to live and pay taxes.
revel take great pleasure in. The colonies had revel in the Boston Tea Party.
