Pilgrim Separatists who journeyed to the English colonies
Proprietary Colonies the king gave colonies to be run by an individual or a group
Puritans Protestants who wanted to reform the Anglican Church
Quakers a religious group that believed everyone was equal, killing was wrong, and slavery was wrong
Roger Williams set up the colony of Rhode Island which became the first English colony granting religious freedom
Separatists Protestants who left the Church of England to start their own churches
Toleration to be willing to put up with people different from oneself
