Mesopotamia "The land between two rivers." This was the site of the world's first civilization, Sumer.
Sumer World's first civilization located in Mesopotamia.
Tigris & Euphrates The two rivers that flow through Mesopotamia
Irrigation Canals that bring water to crops and fields.
Droughts Long periods without rain.
Cuneiform Earliest writing systems in the world.
Scribe A writer from Sumerian School.
City States A self governing city that also governs nearby cities. (Ex. Ur)
Ziggurat A tall-flat pyramid made of mud-brick at the center of Sumerian cities
Polytheism A belief in many gods and goddesses.
EmpireM Many Kingdoms under power of one ruler
Giligamesh Hero from Sumer who went on a long journey
Silt Mixture of soil and rocks.
