Concurrent Powers | Those powers shared by the national and state gov't |
Execurtive Branch | Branch of gov't that enforces the laws |
Preamble | The introduction to the constitution that states the goals for gov't |
Amendment | Any change to the Constitution |
Seperation of Powers | The idea that gov't should be divided into 3 branches to avoid abuse of power |
The Charters of the VA Company | Established that the rights of Englishmen would be granted to the colonists |
Elastic Clause | Gives Congress the power to make laws necessary and proper to carry out its duties |
Reserved | powers given to state gov'ts only |
The Virginia Declaration of Rights | Served as the model for the Bill of Rights of the U.S Constitution |
Legislative Branch | Branch of gov't that makes the laws |
Ratification | To approve. The Constitution was ratified June 1788 |
