Successful lawyer and politician. Republican. Believed in legislation to end slavery. Elected president of the United States. Abraham Lincoln
Former senator of Mississippi, elected president of the Confederacy after the South's secession. Jeffereson Davis
The Confederate States of America, a confederation formed in 1861 by the Southern states after their secession from the Union. Confederacy
The first battle with major bloodshed. Won by the Confederate Army. Bull Run
Fort in the Confederacy that remained in Union hands. Jefferson Davis chose to attack this fort and it was lost to the Confederacy. Fort Sumter
