erosion | the process of breaking down, as in the breakdown of rock by wind and water |

physical feature | the natural landforms and characteristics of a place |
physiographic region | land regions that were formed by similar geologic processes |
precipitation | the amount of water in the air that falls to the earth as rain or snow |

region | a portion of the earth's surface distinguished from others by some characteristic |
relative location | location description using a place's location in relation to other places |
sediment | material such as stones and sand deposited by water, wind, or glacier |
shelterbelt | a barrier of trees and shrubs that protects against the wind and reduces erosion |
