If a person commits a burglary, what kind of law applies? criminal
If a person gets evicted, what kind of law applies? housing
Which type of court decides issues of fact and law? trial courts
Which type of court decides only issues of law? appellate courts
What is the highest court in the land? United States Supreme Court
Where does our law come from? legislature, Constitution, precedent
What is precedent? idea that the rulings of a higher appellate court must be applied to lower courts
Who represents the state in a criminal case? prosecutor
