Social Studies 8- Mr. Wise

TermDefinition
What did the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) do? Created jobs for men (18-25) to plant trees, build bridges and parks.
What did the Federal Emergency Relief Administration (FERA) do? Gave money to state and local government to give to the needy.
What did the Works Process Administration (WPA) do? Created jobs to build hospitals, schools, parks, playgrounds and airports.
What did the Agricultural Adjustment Act (AAA) do? Paid farmers to NOT grow certain crops.
What did the National Recovery Administration (NRA) do? Enforced rules for prices of goods, wages, and working conditions.
What did the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) do? Insured savings accounts people had in banks. If the bank failed, people would not lose the money they saved.
What did the Social Security Act (SSA) do? Set up a system of pensions for the elderly, unemployed and the handicapped.
What did the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) do? It helped to rebuild the Tennessee River Valley. It made dams to produce hydroelectric power and hospitals and schools.
