Drought Def-A long period of time with little to no rain which can cause food shortages. To combat these in their new homeland between the rivers, Sumerians created an irrigation system of canals, levees, and dams to keep their crops watered
Famine Def-the shortage of food Not enough food could be produced in the foothills of the Zagros Mountains because the people reached carrying capacity.
Surplus Def-Amount of something left over after requirements has been met. Mesopotamians had this in weat and barley.
Barter Def- exchanging for other goods or service Mesopotamians did this with weat and barley for wood.
City-State Def- a larger city with protection Sumerian built walls and moats around cities this is the birth of these.
Ziggurat Def- A large building to worship the gods and goddesses Every city-state in Mesopotamia had this to worship the gods and the gods slept there.
