What is the most important belief for Christians? Resurrection - belief that Jesus came back from the dead
How were Christians treated at first in the Roman Empire? They were arrested, beaten, and imprisoned.
How did Christianity become accepted in Rome? Emperor Constantine converted to Christianity
What event was most responsible for Christianity becoming the largest religion in the world? Constantine converted, all of Rome followed, and Rome is the world.
What were the Crusades? A series of wars between Christians and Muslims for the Holy Land (Jerusalem)
What city is considered the capital of Islam? Mecca
When Muhammad began teaching in Mecca what did the people do? They plotted to kill him.
The people of Medina became so loyal to Muhammad, what did they do? They attacked Mecca and killed all of his enemies.
What are the two main sects of Islam? Sunni & Shiite
What do we call the main tenets of Islam? The 5 Pillars of Islam
What is Ramadan? A holy month where Muslims fast from sunrise to sunset
What is Almsgiving? The third pillar that tells Muslims to give to charity when they can.
What is the Hajj? 5th Pillar - Muslims must journey to Mecca if physically able
What is the Declaration? 1st Pillar - There is not God but Allah and Muhammad is his prophet.
What is the pillar regarding prayer for Muslims? They must pray 5 times per day facing Mecca
