| lord | the person who gave fiefs to vassals in exchange for services |
| vassal | a person who got fiefs from a lord |
| chivalry | a code that knights live by including social, moral, and religious oaths |
| excommunication | the act of forbidding a certain person to be spoken to by the church |
| investiture | investing a person with honors/rank |
| Gaul | A city in the middle ages |
| Domesday book | a record of taxes and payments made by William the conqueror |
| Anglo Saxons | Germanic inhabitants of England |
