Double Spacing One blank line is in between your text lines
Italicize makes your text slanted
New Word Command allowing you to create a blank document
Print/Print Preview Word command allowing you to produce copies of documents on paper (Print) Word command that allows you to see what the paper would look like before printed
Clipboard When copying, pasting, or cutting, items selected are placed on this for use in another area of your printing
Font Color Change the color of your text
Superscript Type very small just above the line of text
Bold Makes your text darker
Sort/ Ascending and Descending Order Sorts you text in alphabetical order(A-Z) or reverse order (Z-A)
Center Alignment Align your content in the middle of the document
Shading Changes the color behind the selected text, paragraph, or table cell
Find/ Replace Locates specified text in a document (Find) Replaces specified text in a document (Replace)
Cover Page Inserts fully formatted cover page
Online Pictures/Word Art Finds and insert pictures from a variety of online sources
Hyperlink Inserts a link into your document for quick access to webpages and files
Text Box Inserts text boxes into a document
Margins (Default Size) Amount of space at the top, bottom, right and left of your document. Default setting is 1 on all sides.
Portrait The orientation or layout of your document. In this case vertically.
Page color Chooses a color for the background of the page
Thesaurus Finds synonyms and antonyms of selected text
Default (font and font size) Preset or programmed setting. This is automatic unless you change it. Word Default font and font size is Calibri at 11
Save/Save as A command to save any changes to your document (Save) A command to rename a doc at the same time as moving it to a new location
Cut/Copy/Paste Remove the selection and put it on the clipboard so you can paste it somewhere else (Cut) Put a copy of the selection on the clipboard to your document (Copy) Add content o the clipboard to your document (Paste)
Open word command allowing you to retrieve a document previously saved
Close Exits the current document open
Font Type style of text (Default is Calibri (Body))
Change Case Change the selected text to uppercase, lowercase, or other common capitalizations
Subscript Type very small letters just below the line of text
Bullets A symbol used to separate a list
Show/Hide Shows paragraph marks and other hidden formatting symbols such as spaces and tabs
Justified Align your content to both the left and right margins
Borders Adds lines around text or pictures
Select Selects entire document for formatting changes
Blank Page Inserts a blank page anywhere in a document
Shapes/Smart Art Inserts ready-made shapes, such as circles, squares, and arrows(Shapes) Insert a smart art graphic to visually communicate info(SmartArt)
Headers/Footers Inserts information at the top of the document (Header) Inserts information at the bottom of the document(Footer)
Page Orientation Switches between portrait (vertical) layout and landscape (horizontal) layout
Columns Splits text and documents into two or more columns
Envelopes Creates and prints envelopes
Labels Creates and prints labels
Undo/Redo To bring back anything deleted (Undo) To re-type anything deleted (redo)
Single Spacing No blank lines are in between your text lines
Underline Inserts a line underneath your text (underline)
Word Wrap Automatically moves to the next line when text hits the right margin
Increase Font Make your text a bit bigger a
Decrease Font Make your text smaller
Font Size Size of Text (Default is 11)
Highlight Make your text pop by highlighting it in a bright color
Strikethrough Crosses something out by drawing a line through it
Numbering Automatically starts a numbered list
Left Alignment Align your content with the left margin
Right Alignment align you content with the right margin
Page borders Puts lines or styles of lines around the selected area
Table/Rows/Columns A grid of rows and columns that organizes information so it is easy to find and understand
Page Break Ends the current page and inserts a new page
Charts Insert a chart to illustrate and compare data
Page Numbers Inserts page number into a document
Symbols Insert symbols that are not on our keyboard
Landscape Horizontal page orientation
Watermark Inserts ghosted text behind the content of the page
Spelling/Grammar Check Checks the spelling and grammar of the text in a document
Zoom Opens the zoom dialog box to specify the zoom level of the document
Word Processing A software used to create, edit and print text documents
