What are the 5 steps in the throwing process? Stance/grip, step with opposition, elbow back, trunk rotation, follow through
What do you do when throwing to a moving target? Utilize the 5 steps of throwing, adjust the velocity of pass based on speed/direction you are throwing to, lead the person catching the ball (further away, the more you have to lead), throw it to where they are going to be moving to.
What are the 2 main types of catching? Above the waist & below the waist
How do you catch and above the waist pass? Fingers toward the sky, look through the diamond or triangle, relax elbows and bend them as you catch the ball
How do you catch a below the waist ball? Fingers pointing towards the ground, fingers collapsing around ball(as if you were trying to catch a lightning bug), relax elbows and bend them as you catch the ball.
Accuracy The ability to throw the ball in the direction you want to go consistently
Velocity The speed and direction of the ball
Trajectory The path the ball travels in the air
Absorption Bending your elbows as the ball is connecting with your hands(giving)
What are offensive strategies? Communication-verbal and non verbal Moving to open space- filling space that is open to receive a pass Getting away from your defender- accelerate and change speeds to get away Creating open space- recognizing you are in an area closed to space and moving
Defensive strategies Types of defense- person to person (one on one) Follow the person where they go. See the person see the ball. Stay between the person you are defending and the goal
