Study guide for 1st 10 amendments

1st Amendment Protects freedom of ....speech - religion - press - assembly - petition
2nd Amendment Have a well-regulated militia; right of people to keep and bear arms
3rd Amendment Soldiers can't live (quarter) in your house without your permission
4th Amendment Police can't search you, your house or your things without a search warrant
5th Amendment right to remain silent, grand jury required, can't be tried twice for same crime, and due process
6th Amendment right to a speedy trial, jury by peers, to face accuser, and have a lawyer
7th Amendment you have a right to a jury in a civil trial
8th Amendment no cruel and unusual punishment, no excessive bail
9th Amendment just because these rights are listed in the Constitution doesnt mean you don't have other rights too
10th Amendment Anything the Constitution doesn't say the Congress can do, is left up to the states and the people
