| island | apiece of land surrounded by water |
| peninsula | a piece of land surrounded by water on its three sides |
| isthmus | a narrow piece of land that connects two bigger pieces of land |
| archipelago | a group of islands |
| strait | a narrow passage of water that connects two large bodies of water |
| bay | a body of water that forms an indentation of the shoreline larger than a cove but smaller then a gulf |
| canyon | a deep high valley with high steep sides |
| valley | a low long part of land between mountains or hills |
| sea | the salty water that covers the greater part of the earths surface |
| plateau | a land area that has a flat surface raised above adjoining land on at least one side |
| lake | a large body of water completely surrounded by land |
| cape | a piece of land that extends into the sea or other large body of water |
| gulf | a large part of the ocean or sea partly enclosed by a curved coastline |
