Georgia Regions

2nd Grade

TermDefinition
Blue Ridge This region makes up the highest mountain ranges in Georgia. This area has forest and rivers.
Ridge and Valley This region has low areas of farm lands with rich soil and areas of high land with ridges.
Appalachian Plateau Georgia's smallest region. Fairly flat, high land with some mountains. Temperatures are cooler than in the southern part of the state.
Piedmont It contains the highest population of people and the capital is here. It has red soil.
Coastal Plain This region is the largest. This area is flat, and it is good for farming. It's famous for its peanuts, peaches, and pecans.
