Compass Rose A symbol on a map that shows directions
Map Key A map legend ; the the boxed list showing what the symbols or colors represent
Scale A ruler that shows distances on a map
Latitude Lines that measure the distance north and south from the equator
Longitude Lines that measure the distances east and west of the prime meridian
Locator Map A simple map that shows where the area in which an accompanying map is located
Political Map A map that show information such as borders, capitals, and important cities
Physical Map A map that shows geographic features of a place, such as mountains and valleys and bodies of water
Relief Relief shows high and low places through different colors and shading
Elevation The distance above or below sea level
Elevation Map A map that shows physical characteristics of a land area
Region An area defined by its common features
Historical Map A map that shows information about the past
Population Density Map A map that shows how many people live in an area
Satellite Map A map that shows a picture of what an area looks like from space
