5 Themes of Geo

What does human environment interaction tell us? How people react to and change the environment
Types of questions a geographer asks: 1). Where is it? 2). Why is it there? 3). What effects does the environment have on life?
What does place mean? What a location looks like may include climate, people, and land forms.
What does location mean? It tells us where a point is on the Earth's surface.
What does region mean? Areas of the earth that are alike in some way and have unifying characteristics
What is relative location? given in relation to borders, landmarks, distance, or directions
Geographer Person who studies the Earth
How does the environment effect people? What we wear What we eat How we live
Give an example of how we move ideas The internet
What are the 5 themes of geography? 1). Location 2). Place 3). Region 4). Human Environment Interaction 5). Movement
What is absolute location? Your exact location
Give an example of how we move product UPS, FedEx, cargo ships, planes
Give an example of how we move people cars, planes, trains, bikes, etc.
How do people change the environment? Deforestation Building things Air pollution
What does movement tell us? We travel and communicate with one another. We depend on each other for products and ideas. How people share ideas, people, and goods to shape the world.
