TermDefinition
democracy Citizens have supreme power through the right to vote for their leaders and the legislature. Examples: Israel and Turkey.
Presidential Democracy Citizens vote for president; the president is both the head of state and head of government.
Parliamentary Democracy Citizens elect members to parliament and members of parliament select the prime minister; the prime minister is the head of government. Examples: Turkey and Israel
Autocratic Monarchy Government in which one person has uncontrolled or unlimited authority over others; the government or power of an absolute monarch.
Israel and Turkey Have a parliamentary democratic type of government
Saudi Arabia Has an autocratic monarchy type of government
theocracy A government controlled by religious leaders.
monarch a king or queen who inherits the position. Example: Saudi Arabia
prime minister the title of the head of government in most parliamentary democracies.
head of government the top leader who manages day-to-day activities in a government
head of state the top leader who represents a government at official and ceremonial functions, but may not manage day-to-day activities
