Capitalization Rules
Basic Rules to know for capitalization
| Term | Definition |

| Rule 1 | capitalize the first word of every sentence |
| Rule 2 | capitalize the names of specific things and places |
| Rule 3 | capitalize days of the week, months of the year, and holidays. Do not capitalize the names of seasons. |
| Rule 4 | capitalize the names of all languages, nationalities, races, religions, deities, and sacred terms. |
| Rule 5 | capitalize the first word and every important word in a title. Except when they start a title, do not capitalize articles, prepositions, or short connecting words. |
| Rule 6 | capitalize the first word of a direct quotation. |
| Rule 7 | capitalize historical events, periods, and documents. |
| Rule 8 | capitalize the words "north, south, east, and west" when they are used as places rather than as directions. |
| Rule 9 | capitalize people's names |
| Rule 10 | capitalize brand names |
