Geography Concepts

word definition
absolute location -describes the location of a place using latitude and longitude
continent -the main expansions of land
relative location -a point in relation to another point
hemisphere -a certain area of the Earth
equator -the line that "splits" the world in half ; starting point for latitude lines
prime meridian -the line that vertically "splits" the world in half ; starting point for longitude lines
longitude -imaginary lines that measure distances north and south of the equator ; prime meridian is starting point
latitude -imaginary lines that measure distances east and west of the prime meridian ; equator is starting point
climate -the weather in a certain area
natural resource -resources that come from the Earth and are not man-made
population distribution -the distribution of people
trade -when someone gives someone else something for something else
modify -when something is "fixed"
