Geography Concepts

All of the geography concepts for Social Studies

Absolute Location The use of latitude and longitude
Continent A large land mass
Relative Location Directions by using objects that are familiar to surrounding
Hemisphere The 4 ways that the earth is divided
Equator The imaginary line that runs around earths latitude and divides the earth into Northern and Southern hemispheres
Prime Meridian The imaginary line that runs through the earth and divides it into the Western and Eastern hemisphere
Latitude The measure of distance north and south of the equator
Longitude The distance east and west of the Prime Meridian
Climate A weather condition that affects the earth, a long period of time
Natural Resource A resource that is made naturally
Population Distribution Where people live
Trade A way people exchange goods with each other
Modify A way people use to change the environment for economical gain
