| Term | Definition |

| absolute location | to identify a location on Earth by using longitude and latitude lines |
| continent | any continuous landmass found on Earth (ex: africa, asia, europe) |
| relative location | directions (North. South, East, and West) to a certain location |
| hemisphere | an imaginary line that splits the world in half |
| equator | an imaginary line that splits the world into Northern and Southern hemispheres |
| prime meridian | an imaginary line that splits the world into Eastern and Western hemispheres |
| latitude | imaginary lines that go around the Earth like the equator |
| longitude | imaginary lines that go around the Earth like the Prime Meridian |
| climate | the weather conditions for a certain area over a long period of time |
| natural resources | things found in nature; not man-made |
| population distribution | where people live spread across a given area |
| trade | the act of buying and selling |
| modify | minor changes / to improve |
