Tigris River river north of the Euphrates that begins in Turkey and flows through Syria and Iraq
Persian Gulf one of the major shipping routes for oil to be shipped out of Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Iran and other countries along its shores
Strait of Hormuz this narrow waterway connects the Persian Gulf to the Arabian Sea
Arabian Sea Sea south of Saudi Arabia
Suez Canal Manmade feature that connects the Red Sea to the Mediterranean Sea; prevents ships having to travel all around the coast of Africa to reach the Middle East
Red Sea This sea is connected to the Mediterranean Sea by the Suez Canal.
Jordan River River that begins in the mountains of Lebanon and Syria, flows down past Israel to the Sea of Galilee and then eventually to the Dead Sea
Afghanistan located at the far eastern edge of the region of the Southwest Asia; landlocked country
Iran country west of Afghanistan.
Iraq country west of Iran; Tigris and Euphrates Rivers flow through it
Saudi Arabia largest country on the Arabian Peninsula

Gaza Strip A strip of land along the southern coast of Israel
West Bank land set aside in Israel for the Arabs; located in the eastern portion of Israel
Kuwait independent Arab state in East Arabia, at the head of the Persian Gulf between Iraq & Saudi Arabia
Syria Country between Iraq and Lebanon and also borders the West Bank
