Road to WWII

WWII - USEvents
1939 War broke out again in Europe when Hitler invaded Poland, US remained neutral
1941 Pearl Harbor brought US into the conflict-FDR "A day that will live in infamy" 12-7-1941. 12-11-1941 Congress declared war on Japan-their ally, Germany in turn declared war on the US.
AXIS The Axis Powers were the coalition led by Germany, Italy, and Japan during World War II.
ALLIES Allied Powers, consisting mainly of Great Britain, France, the United States, the Soviet Union, and China
1945 May 7 Germany officially surrendered. Japan repeatedly refused to surrender.
First bomb August 6, 1945, Harry Truman(then president) agreed to use the Atom bomb-Hiroshima
second bomb Japan continued to refuse to surrender and on August 9, 1956 the second Atom bomb was dropped on Nagasaki
Surrender August 15th less than one week after the second bomb
