Separation of Powers the goverance of democratic states, state is divided into branches or estates, each with separate and independent powers and areas of responsibility.
2 chambers of legislative branch Each congressional chamber (house or senate) has particular exclusive powers-senate must give "advice & consent" to pres. appointments, & the house must introduce any bills to raise revenue. However, consent of both chambers is required to make any law

impeachment of president the pres. may be impeached by a majority in the house and removed from office by a 2/3's majority in the senate for "treason, bribery, or other high crimes and misdemeanors"
